Janet Nelson is the president and owner of The Business Improvement Experts, a sub company of the certified, Woman-Owned Business  J Nelson Enterprise, LLC, and a partner company of OQL Solutions. OQL Solutions is a consulting resource specializing in Operations, Quality, and Customer Loyalty improvements. Janet has a 20+ year record as a senior executive and consultant in leading companies to significantly improve operational efficiencies, product development processes, and customer loyalty & retention, to positively impacting the top and bottom line. Her active client base includes foreign and domestic companies coming from private and not-for profit segments.

Janet has a background as a corporate leader experienced in operations, product development & engineering, quality, and strategy; having worked in senior positions in Xerox Corporation and Eastman Kodak. In her consulting business and in her corporate experience Janet has delivered measurable improvements in processes, products, and services quality. She personally led the activities which improved field failure rates from four percent to less than one-half of one percent. She and her teams have also delivered substantial reductions in cost, inventory, and cycle time.

     Examples of accomplishments include:

     Asssitng small to medium companies achieve ISO 9001:2008/2015 certification

     Improving Customer Satisfaction from 74% to 90% in three years;

     Delivering double-digit cost reductions through design and productivity initiatives;

     Bringing four new products to market in the benchmark time of 8 month and;

     Improving factory safety rates from 23 to zero recordable incidences per year.

Janet has a Masters in Systems Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology, a BS in Applied Science from the State University of New York, and is certified by the American Society for Quality as a Six Sigma Black Belt.

She is involved in a series of pro bono activities within the local Rochester, NY community. She is a past board chair of the Upstate NY Turnaround Management Association and a past boardmember(s) of the Rochester Salvation Army, the Flower City Habitat for Humanity and the Greater Rochester Quality Council.

She is a senior member of the American Society for Quality and a member(s) of the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, the National Association of Female Executives, and served as an adjunct faculty for Empire State College. 

She also trains for the American Society for Quality.  Recent activities have expanded to include Pre-Emptive Six Sigma ©- ISO 2001:2015 risk management tools.
